Testimonials about the tour

"Pure and wonderful untouched nature"It was a great experience, pure and wonderful untouched nature. Our contact person from the travel agency Carpathian Escapes was Istvan, he speaks German very well, he welcomed us at the airport very friendly and open minded and transferred us to the starting point for the trail and back again. At the last day we enjoyed a short guidance through Brasov, what was very ineresting. The trail was guided by an experienced guide, Lazslo who was very friendly and you felt absolutely savety everytime. The horses were of good condition, well educated, save and friendly. We faced a great hospitality, away from massive tourism in the middle of nowhere. It was REAL holiday, away of business life and any kind of luxury, you do not need. We can surely recommend this fascinating trail for every good rider as riding in this landscape requests more than only basic rinding experiences, you should be save and educted in cross country riding. If so this trail is not exhaustive at all but only an amazing experience! (Edda from Germany in 2017)

"What a wonderful time I had in Romania" I just wanted to say what a wonderful time I had in Romania. My horse was fantastic and I don't think they could have paired me any better, she was exactly what I was looking for. I actually miss her! The guide, Lazlo, was excellent. I didn't get much chance to talk to him during the ride itself, but at dinner and breakfast he was informative and although he said he struggled with English it was not noticeable at all. He had some great stories! The riding was a great mixture of slow pace and fast, open fields and mountains, some tricky hills and I really enjoyed wrestling with the trees through the forest! The views - stunning. The days were long, but you couldn't tire of the views and having the half day on Wednesday and a chance to go for a walk was a great little break (allowing the muscles to do something else!). The accommodation was also varied and comfortable. The food was delicious and there was lots of it. Water was a little harder to come by especially as it was so hot but was given when we asked for it. (Elizabeth from the UK in 2017)

"The scenery, the horses, the people, it was just brilliant!" Loved it! The scenery, the horses, the people, it was just brilliant! Food was lovely and always plenty to go around. Showers now always hot though. The horses were lovely and well matched to the rider. Lazlo (guide) was also very kind to them and was lovely to watch him with them. Tack was ok. Bridles were a bit old, stitching looked ok, but leather looked dry. Saddles were better and saddle bags were very handy. (Our guide was...) Awesome! Very friendly and happy to answer questions about the horses and where we were. Also brilliant with the horses. (Favourite memory?) The views from the top of the mountains at 1700m (a.s.l) on day two. Also seeing the livestock and farmers up on the mountain. (Laura from the UK in 2017)

“Amazing once in a lifetime experience” I went horseriding for 5 days through the Carpathian mountains. With great well taken care of horses we rode through the beautiful nature of Romania. The guide was very experienced and gave a great feeling of comfort. Really once in a lifetime experience, with raw untouched nature and ultimate freedom on the back of a horse! (Kelly from The Netherlands, 2018)

“Fabulous riding adventure in beautiful Transylvania” Well organised tour. small group of people (max of 6 riders plus guide). beautiful landscape and very gentle horses. (Christiane from Australia, 2018)

“Adventure ride” Beautiful area.Great horses.Good gide-good organisation. Off the road were my best memory's. Second the people of Romenia.Seadle was too hard in the first two days. But I used on it. (Els from The Netherlands, 2018)

Beautiful, challenging and exhilaratingFantastic Lipizzaner horses, great guide, wonderful scenery. Make sure you are riding fit for this trip - there are lots of steep uphill and downhill trails and fast canters, and it’s exhilarating. Romania and the Romanian people are wonderful. Thank you for a fabulous trip. (Gill from the UK in 2019)

Riding tour "Red Lake"When we booked this 5 days riding tour I did not expect such incredible perfect horses ! Most of them were Lipizzan bred - beautiful and strong horses. Very well trained, groomed and educated. The landscape was breathtaking - natural woods, meadows with orchids and so many flowers all around. We had nice accommodations and got good homemade food. Our guide Laszlo knew the best views, picnic places and took good care of us. We saw bear tracks and deers. Romania is a really beautiful country. (Andrea from Germany, 2019)

Red Lake Trail: I have participated for the past 25 years in various horseback riding trails in Europe recently in Canada but I have never experienced such a great trail like this one. I had for a long time not taken Romania or Bulgaria or any other Eastern European country into consideration because I was afraid that the handling of the horses or any other animals would not be ok although I did hear of the beautiful landscape. But how positive I was surprised. These horses were not only in excellent health Condition but also very well maintained and had a super strong condition and a great nature. Our Trail ride guide Laszlo is a wonderful, quiet, positive horse-loving man. He not only knows his horses very well he also took very great care of us. Not only during the trail ride but also outside riding hours he always showed great effort to make everything right for us. You really feel through his kindness and dedication as a guest and thus spoiled. The landscape of the Eastern Carpathians is stunning, wonderful, very beautiful and a kind of wild. This untouched nature you experience from horses back while you ride along sheep and Cow herds and this vastness is a dream come true. You ride up and down hill in forests with pine trees and then you find yourself crossing wild creeks and then galloping over gentle green hills with many colorful flowers and grasses. The accommodations were super clean and decorated with love and warmth and you felt right at home when entering them. The food during the trail was excellent: home cooking at its best, first a soup (Cabbage soup, cauliflower soup, vegetable soup, chicken soup) super yummy they taste like that it comes straight out of the garden and then meat or chicken with side dishes such as potatoes and for dessert homemade Cake. Always served with a delicious Romanian red wine. Also I would like to mentioned that all the organization during the trail was super reliable and punctual and again the effort shown in making this a very pleasant holiday cannot be mentioned enough. Finally I hope the hospitality the motivation and the originality of Man and horse will remain for a long time so that even more riders can enjoy this great beautiful riding trail as much as I did.
